May 10 - June 30

at

Wedge & Fig Bistro

160 N. 3rd Street (just below Race Street)

The camera as pallet, as paint and as paintbrush; in this series of works, Juan Miguel Torres uses it for all these artistic tools. Classical technique is blended with technology. Reminiscent of impressionist and post-impressionist still lifes from the 18th century, these dynamic compositions draw the eye. In the juxtaposition of colors and the careful use of light, common objects reveal their true beauty. The unfiltered lens of his camera and unadulterated digital prints make Torres' photographs at once striking, soothing and filled with the essence of life.

Torres, a long-time resident of Philadelphia, is also a cancer survivor. Proceeds from this show will be donated to the Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia's (CSCP) Dragon Boat Team. CSCP has provided him with strength and support throughout his illness and journey back to being well.
